          There’s been a considerable amount of buzz surrounding the forthcoming Jimi Hendrix docu-drama, ‘Jimi: All Is By My Side’.  Written and directed by John Ridley (12 Years A Slave), the film stars Andre Benjamin of OutKast in the title role.  It chronicles Hendrix’s days as a backup guitarist in New York to his expatriate days working in the London music scene and concluding with his star making turn at The Monterey Pop Festival.

          The film opens on Friday, September 26th. So while we can’t comment on the movie itself, The Black Rock Coalition has teamed up with Rdio to present a Hendrix-inspired playlist featuring artists that inspired him, contemporaries and artists who followed in his musical path.  Special thanks to Dimitri Vietze for all of his assistance in making this happen.
